What I built in Erevald

My Buildspace Season 5 project was an album: Solaris Performa Edition 42, released as Mameen on October 19, 2024. It contains twenty-two songs and runs for an hour and thirteen minutes. The release followed the season and the announcement that Buildspace was closing.

I wrote the songs and used Suno in production. My working process also included guide vocals: recordings that established the tune, phrasing, and feel I wanted to pursue. The writing, selection, and revision were my work; the generated production gave me versions to evaluate and develop.

The season also involved making videos for the songs and sharing progress publicly. The weekly expectation to show work gave the project a sequence of intermediate deadlines before the album release.

For the research, this was a participant's project as well as a creative release. I was studying how people worked within the program while taking part in its deadlines, feedback, and public demonstrations myself. The album is one documented output from that participation; it cannot, on its own, tell us how the program affected other members.

It also gives the Lab a concrete example of the relationship between a learning environment and work that continues beyond it. The community closed. The album remained available, with its own release record and audience.
